Job Overview 

We are looking for a reliable individual to join our Legal firm as a Bankruptcy Paralegal. You should be able to assist the clients and the lawyers with the bankruptcy proceedings process. You should be able to gather and maintain a record of all the documents needed to process bankruptcy claims. Also, you should communicate with the clients and interview creditors/debtors. 

As a Bankruptcy Paralegal, you should have complete knowledge of the paralegal procedures and national/state regulations. Besides, you should be able to maintain the confidentiality of any sensitive information. Your ability to gather information from various sources will also be beneficial. 

To perform in this job role, you should be well-versed with the legal terminologies and have the ability to conduct in-depth research. Also, you should be able to prepare witnesses in court. Moreover, you should be able to explain the bankruptcy claims procedure and legalities to the clients. An individual holding relevant job experience in this area of work will be considered.

Responsibilities 

  • Reviewing and processing bankruptcy claims 

  • Drafting and filing relevant documents 

  • Coordinating with the lawyers to collect case-related documents from creditors and debtors 

  • Communicating with clients and informing them about the case status 

  • Gathering and examining credit reports 

  • Assisting the lawyers in legal research 

  • Preparing claim proofs 

  • Collecting and submitting relevant legal documents to the bankruptcy court 

  • Maintaining an accurate and detailed report of the case documents 

  • Explaining and assisting the clients in obtaining the documents required 

Requirements 

  • Paralegal Associate degree or a state approved Paralegal certification 

  •  2-3 years of work experience as a Bankruptcy Paralegal or a similar role in a reputed legal firm 

  • Complete knowledge of bankruptcy procedures and terminologies 

  • Good time management and organizational skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to conduct in-depth research  

  • Extensive knowledge in gathering and filing legal documents 

  • Good computer skills 

  • Excellent collaborative skills 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information 

  • Having a keen eye for detail 

  • Ability to offer improved customer support
