Job Overview 

We are looking for a responsible and hardworking individual to join us as a Deckhand. You will be responsible for all the deck operations such as loading and unloading of cargo. Besides, you will also be responsible for cleaning and greasing the machineries. You will also be responsible for the upkeep of the vessel and maintenance of the deck surface areas. 

You should also be able to perform general maintenance activities and prepare the cabins for the crew members. Your job responsibilities will also include you ensuring the safety of the passengers. Furthermore, you should be able to adhere to the best environmental practices and safety guidelines at all times.  

As a Deckhand, you should hold a valid certification and display excellent physical dexterity. Also, you should have good listening skills and the ability to handle stressful situations. A successful candidate should also have complete knowledge of the maritime safety rules and regulations. Your ability to work well under pressure will be a plus point.

Responsibilities 

• Analyzing the condition of the machineries to ensure they remain in a good working order 

• Greasing and cleaning the machineries 

• Moving heavy objects using various equipment and navigational tools 

• Utilizing safety equipment during emergencies 

• Undertaking general maintenance duties such as sweeping and mopping whenever required 

• Safely attaching nets and hooks to the hoists 

• Ensuring the maintenance of deck surfaces 

• Assisting with berthing and unberthing 

• Helping with the loading and unloading of cargo 

• Preparing cabin rooms for the crew members  

• Ensuring safety of the passengers 

• Adhering to the best environmental practices and safety guidelines at all times 

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field 

• Holding a valid Deckhand certification from a reputed institute 

• Proven work experience as a Deckhand or a similar role in the Logistics industry 

• Complete knowledge of maritime safety rules and regulations 

• Excellent physical and mental stamina 

• Good time management and organizational skills 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

• Good communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions 

• Good listening skills 

• Ability to work under pressure
