Job Overview

We are looking for a Transport Administrator to be a part of our Logistics team. You will be responsible for assisting the Transportation Manager with all day to day transportation activities. Helping develop efficient transport operations and optimizing the existing strategies will be a part of your job role. Besides, you should be able to prepare transportation schedules and assign drivers. 

You will be liaising with clients to understand their requirements and accordingly advise them on the vehicle type and freight charges. Coordinating the transportation of goods and ensuring timely and safe delivery are also your responsibilities. In addition, you will be responsible for performing administrative duties such as preparing shipping documents, reports, and maintaining logbook entries.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with the Transportation team regarding transportation planning and strategies

  • Reviewing customer requirements and suggesting vehicle types and freight charges

  • Ensuring compliance with the safety standards and transportation department SOPs

  • Handling any customer complaints and processing the urgent ones to the Senior Management

  • Ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods

  • Coordinating loading and unloading activities

  • Scheduling vehicle maintenance appointments

  • Receiving customer requests and bookings

  • Planning daily transportation schedules and assigning drivers

  • Performing administrative duties such as preparing and maintaining shipment documents, invoices, and logbook entries

  • Liaising with drivers for smooth movement of goods and materials

  • Developing and implementing new and improved transportation procedures

  • Updating freight charges periodically

  • Managing transportation budget and checking for newer/shorter routes

  • Assisting in training new recruits

  • Monitoring refueling of vehicles 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or similar field

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the Transportation Department 

  • Basic knowledge of supply chain and inventory management

  • Familiarity with logistics software like Oracle and Mercury Gate to help with daily operations like 3PLs and freight charges

  • Knowledge of transportation and safety standards

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure

  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and departments

  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills

  •  Ability to work at irregular hours and on holidays

  • Ability to coordinate with managers, drivers, and customers

  • Quick decision-making ability

  • Familiarity with using GPS and navigation tools
