Job Overview

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Seamstress to join us. You should be able to sew and alter garments to match the client’s requirements. Besides, you should be able to replace any damaged/faulty zips, buttons, or mend seams. 

You should use a measuring tape to get accurate measurements and make alterations to the garments accordingly. Moreover, you should advise clients on the various fabric types and latest garment designs. You should be able to take dress fittings to determine any alterations needed.

Apart from your sewing responsibilities, you should keep the work station clean and the sewing equipment in working order. A proven experience in the Retail industry will be an added advantage. In addition to this, you should have excellent sewing and creative skills.

Responsibilities

• Altering garments to suit clients body types and requirements

• Adjusting the dress length, inserting shoulder pads, and stitching collars

• Undertaking minor alterations like mending seams and replacing hem

• Advising clients on the fit of garments 

• Writing and maintaining receipts of the garments handed over to the clients

• Returning pressed garments to clients to ensure there are no creases

• Carrying out dress fittings as and when required

• Taking accurate measurements using measuring tapes

• Maintaining sewing equipment in proper working order

• Ensuring all garments are labeled correctly to avoid misplacing them

• Coordinating with clients to understand their design requirements and preferences

• Advising clients on the various types of fabrics, fits, and styles

• Stitching garments based on the pattern provided by the clients

• Replacing zippers, linings, and shirt/dress pockets

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Proven experience as a Seamstress or having knowledge of the retail industry

• Familiarity with sewing equipment like the sewing machine, needles, measuring tapes, and scissors

• Understanding of sewing fabrics, styles, and patterns

• Knowledge of various embroidery techniques will be preferred

• Knowledge of the latest trends in the fashion industry

• Excellent sewing skills

• Highly creative individual with an eye for detail

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work for flexible hours

• Good time management and organizational skills

• Ability to offer improved customer service
