Job Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Wood Finisher to help us with our wooden furniture requirements. You should be able to access the amount of work required and provide the customers with an appropriate quote. Besides, you should also recommend different furniture styles matching the customer preferences. 

You should be able to interpret blueprints and have familiarity with power and hand tools. Also, you should use glue and screws to assemble broken and new wooden items. In addition to this, you should have knowledge of trending furniture designs.

To perform the job duties effectively, you should have a detail-oriented approach and the ability to work for long hours. You should also display strong leadership skills. Previous experience in the Construction industry will serve as an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Communicating and understanding customer requirements

• Inspecting the wood and wooden items for any damage

• Disassembling furniture, repairing, and polishing to revive the shine

• Smoothing finishings and cleaning excess solvent and scrapping marks

• Sanding the furniture before polishing

• Adding finishing touch by applying stains, varnish, paint, and wax

• Examining and determining best wood restoration methods

• Understanding blueprints and design patterns

• Using glue, screws, and nails to assemble wooden items and furniture

• Selecting and mixing different finishing ingredients and polishes to get the desired color

• Restoring natural wood color by applying bleach and other solvents

• Assembling wooden cabinets, sofas and creating intricate wooden designs

• Recommending various furniture styles and woods to the customer

• Providing an appropriate project completion timeline and quote

• Decorating new pieces by embossing and painting 

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Proven work experience as a Carpenter or similar job role in the Construction industry

• Complete knowledge of wood finishing techniques and various types of wood

• Familiarity with wood finishing tools and supplies like power sander, fine steel wool, and stripper

• Having an excellent eye for detail and skillful hands

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Displaying good physical dexterity 

• Ability to work for long hours and on weekends

• Ability to work with power and hand tools

• Good leadership skills

• Ability to offer excellent customer satisfaction
