Job Description 

We are looking for a Public Defender to be a part of our team. You should be able to defend clients during criminal investigations and court proceedings. Besides, you should also be able to provide clients with sound legal advice. You should be able to demonstrate excellent researching skills as well as have a keen eye for detail.  

Your job responsibilities will also include arranging case trials, gathering case-related documents, and interrogating witnesses. You should also be able to coordinate with Attorneys and develop effective defensive strategies. Moreover, you should be able to draft legal arguments and pleadings. Your ability to establish and maintain long-term client relations will be considered.  

As a Public Defender, you will be required to accompany the Police Officials and Forensic Scientist at crime scenes. You should also be able to actively participate in jury selections. Furthermore, you should possess an excellent knowledge of criminal law and an understanding of various defense practices.

Responsibilities 

• Advising clients on their legal matters 

• Representing clients in court for criminal investigative proceedings 

• Conducting in-depth legal research and gathering all relevant data 

• Interviewing clients and eye witnesses 

• Preparing a detailed defense brief 

• Discussing and developing defense strategies for the case 

• Writing legal arguments and pleadings 

• Reviewing and negotiating plea bargains 

• Arranging case trails and hearings 

• Coordinating with Attorney’s for case preparation 

• Participating in jury selections 

• Presenting opening and closing arguments at trials 

• Establishing long-term relationships with clients 

• Assisting Forensic Scientist at crime locations 

• Helping clients apply for bail 

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Law 

• Holding a valid license to practice 

• 3-5 years of work experience as a Public Defender in an established Legal firm 

• Complete knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations 

• Excellent understanding of criminal laws 

• Strong communication and presentation skills 

• Having a keen eye for detail 

• Excellent negotiation skills 

• Highly reliable and motivated individual 

• Willingness to travel to different locations 

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively 

• Good researching skills 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

• Ability to offer excellent customer service
